Idonia Horsley Obituary

Idonia Horsley was born to the late Ray Hatten and Viola (Lewis), Hatten on January 8, 1942 in Avinger, Texas. She departed this earthly life on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at 3:08 PM in the comfort of her home, surrounded by two of her granddaughters.

She attended Traylor High School in Hughes Springs, Texas. She was known for being a dominant basketball player where she ruled the court playing the center position.

She was a member of Love Chapel Baptist Church in Hughes Springs, from an early age where she gave her life to Christ.
She enjoyed cooking for everyone that she eventually made it a career. She worked at several places like Lone Star Steel, Double H – Restaurant, the nursing home, and she ended her career as a head cook for Western Sizzler, in Mount Pleasant.

She was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in 2002, shortly after she moved to Dallas with her kids for treatment and therapy. She demolished the cancer and went on to enjoy her early retirement for years until the diagnosis of dementia struck. Although dementia took her life, she fought a good fight all the way to the very end and gave dementia pure hell the entire time.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers; Johnnie, Reece, Lee, Ardis Sr., Ray, Jr., and Leon Hatten. 1 sister; Zelma Jimmerson.

She leaves to cherish her fond memories with her three children; Reginald (Ronda) Hatten of North Lake, Texas, Byron (Cynthia) Hatten of Wylie, Texas, Sekeitha (Jamal) Jones of Richardson, Texas.

Grand Kids; Dejuan (Tacora) Austin, Eric (Anquenette) Hatten, Vanity (Tadarius) Peters, Kamesha Davis, Mariah Hatten, Raamiah, Rylie,Ryane, Raven, Marlena Hatten, April (Colby), Harper, Shaquille and Sanaa Jones, and Christopher and Mercedes Johnson.
